9/11 Remembrance

On September 11th 2001 I was in 5th grade and had just started class. My teacher usually took attendance when school began, but on that particular day she had some news to share with the class.

She told us that on her way to work she’d heard on the radio about the attack on the World Trade Center. Throughout the day we got updates on the tragedy and I remember when I came home from school seeing the news reports on it for the first time, seeing the plane hit the tower.

It was so horrific and so sad.

Today we remember those who we lost, the brave Fire Fighters, and how the nation came together during this horrid tragedy. We thank all of the courageous people on United 93 for overtaking the terrorists and for keeping them from hitting the capital.

Thank you to all of the courageous people, thank you to all of the Fire Fighters, emergency personnel, the volunteers who helped NYC during the aftermath.

We will never forget and will always be grateful.
